Motorcyclist killed in crash
A 22-year-old motorcyclist was hit and killed early Saturday after a car veered into his lane, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
About 12:15 a.m., Kyle Robert Johnson of Wesley Chapel was headed west on Wesley Chapel Boulevard on his 2004 Yamaha motorcycle when a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder crossed into his lane near Gateway Boulevard, the FHP report said. The Pathfinder's driver was also headed west and tried to get into the left turn lane and failed to observe the motorcycle, FHP said.
Johnson died at the scene. The Pathfinder's driver, Josue Maldonado, 43, received minor injuries. His passenger, Carman Maldonado, 50, was not injured. Both are from Milton.
The investigation continues and charges are pending, said Sgt. Steve Gaskins, FHP spokesman.
