TAMPA – Traffic on eastbound Interstate 4 was reduced to two lanes late Thursday night after a fiery crash at N 22nd. St., authorities said.
A car with two people inside was stopped on the left shoulder of the interstate with a flat tire when another driver slammed into the back of the disabled vehicle just before 9 p.m., Tampa Fire Rescue said. A fire erupted, injuring one of the people in the stopped vehicle. Firefighters put out the flames and removed a person who was trapped in the second car. That victim was taken to Tampa General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
