Crash on I-275 snarls traffic, takes out light pole

TAMPA -- An overturned car and downed light pole closed lanes in both directions on Interstate 275 Thursday after a driver collided with another car, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Mark S. Potter, 29, of Tampa, was driving north in the inside lane, south of Ashley Drive, just after 1 p.m. He tried to move to the center lane but lost control of the pickup truck, the FHP said.

The driver of the semitrailer truck, Fernando W. Barragan, 39 of Tampa, was uninjured. Potter and Salazar had minor injuries, and Salazar was taken to Tampa General Hospital.

Potter was cited for failure to use due care. The crash closed multiple lanes on I-275 untll 2:15 p.m.
