Crash leaves Kenneth City motorcyclist with life-threatening injuries

A motorcyclist in St. Pete Beach was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Sunday night, after he collided with a car that turned left in front of him, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

James Garbee, 54, of Kenneth City, was driving his Harley-Davidson west on 75th Avenue near Blind Pass Road. It was around 7:50.

Lina De Capvalho, 41, of Ontario, Canada, and her 13-year-old passenger were stopped in the eastbound lane, waiting for traffic to clear. When the light turned yellow, Capvalho made a left turn in her 2014 Chevy Cruz, authorities said. At the same time, Garbee rode into the intersection and crashed into the car.

Capvalho and the passenger were not injured. Garbee was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with life-threatening injuries.
