Crash seriously injures bicyclist, closes Ulmerton Road at Belcher Road S

LARGO — A vehicle crashed into a bicycle Tuesday morning, seriously injuring one man.

The crash happened at Ulmerton Road and Belcher Road S about 8 a.m. The intersection was closed while emergency officials airlifted the bicyclist to the hospital.

The bicyclist was crossing the road when a Dodge Neon ran into him. He was Bayflighted to a hospital, Largo police said.

The driver of the Dodge wasn't hurt.

Police said the intersection of Ulmerton Road and Belcher Road S would stay closed for a few hours.

    Snooty, who was the world's oldest living manatee, died in an accident, the South Florida Museum announced Sunday afternoon.

    Snooty, the Manatee County mascot, turns 60 on Monday. Hundreds of people came to the Parker Manatee Aquarium to see Snooty at his birthday party on Saturday. He was the first manatee to have a recorded birth date on July 21, 1948.
