GIBSONTON — Deputies have identified the person killed in a Thursday afternoon crash involving an empty school bus.
Elie Saintil, 64, of Tampa drove into the intersection of Symmes Road and North Street just after 1 p.m. and into the path of a school bus. The bus slammed into the driver's side of the Chrysler Sebring.
Saintil died at the scene, deputies said. Mikel Robin, 33, a passenger in the car, was taken to Tampa General Hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening. The bus driver, Mary May Dees, 62, was unhurt.
There were no students in the bus at the time of the crash.
