PINELLAS — A deputy was hurt during a traffic crash in Palm Harbor Sunday night, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
Deputy Jason Howard, 41, was at a red light on the intersection of Alderman and Belcher roads about 9:30 p.m. when he was about to conduct a traffic stop. As he flashed his patrol car's emergency lights and siren and made a left onto Belcher Road, a Chrysler heading south struck the deputy, the Sheriff's Office said.
Howard was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Chrysler, 81-year-old Charles Haenig, sustained minor injuries.
