Downed power line briefly shuts down St. Petersburg's Roosevelt Blvd.

ST. PETERSBURG — Roosevelt Boulevard was reopened to eastbound and westbound traffic Thursday afternoon, after a downed utility line near the intersection with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street temporarily halted traffic.

Repair arrived at the scene shortly before 3 p.m. Westbound traffic was blocked at King Street; eastbound traffic was closed at 16th Court N.

The line may have fallen because of rains earlier last week, which loosened the ground and caused a guide wire to weaken and slump into the highway, police said.
