Driver dies after pickup crashes into brick wall in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG — The driver of a pickup died after the truck ran off the road and crashed into a brick wall Tuesday night in St. Petersburg.

A 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 was speeding on Fifth Avenue N around 5 p.m. when it crossed the intersection of Park Street and hit a wall and a tree, according to police.

The driver died at the scene, police said. Authorities withheld the driver's identity until they could notify family.

The crash remained under investigation Tuesday night. No other details were released.
