TAMPA — Saturday night, a car and a trolley met on the tracks resulting in no injuries and a drunken driving arrest.

Tampa police said Joshua Pelletier, 34, who lives at 11004 Summer Drive in Tampa, drove his GMC Denali northbound on the downtown trolley tracks at Channelside and Cumberland drives when he struck a trolley coming southbound.

The trolley was carrying four passengers and the operator. Pelletier was arrested on suspicion of DUI and failure to drive on a designated roadway. Police said he registered a blood alcohol content of .217 and .214, nearly three times the legal limit.

There was minimal damage to the Trolley and it was fully operational a short time after the accident, police said.
