WESLEY CHAPEL — A man who had a medical emergency while driving Saturday morning and rear-ended another car died Tuesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Scott Wesley Gordon, 53, of Wesley Chapel was driving a 2005 Kia Spectra east on State Road 54 approaching Wildpine Boulevard about 8:45 a.m. Gordon suffered a medical emergency, troopers said, and lost control of the car. He hit the car in front of him, a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu driven by James Michael Montagot, 44, also of Wesley Chapel.

That collision pushed Montagot's car into the path of a 2014 Hyundai Sonata driven by Aung Tun, 55, of Tampa, authorities said.

Tun was not injured. Montagot suffered minor injuries, the Highway Patrol said. Gordan suffered what were described as critical injuries at the time of the crash.
