Driver pulled from burning car in Tampa

TAMPA — A Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputy and Temple Terrace police officer rescued a driver whose car hit a tree and caught fire Saturday morning, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

The accident occurred at 127th Avenue and 58th Street around 3:30 a.m. A passenger in the car was able to escape, Fire Rescue said, but the driver was trapped and unconscious.

The police officer and deputy cut the driver's seat belt and removed him from the burning car. Fire Rescue took the driver to the hospital in critical condition.

The passenger of the car was hospitalized in fair condition, Fire Rescue said.

No names have been released.
