Dump truck crash closes I-275 lanes in Tampa for hours

TAMPA — Northbound lanes on Interstate 275 were shut down for hours Tuesday afternoon after a dump truck rolled over on a ramp near Tampa International Airport and spilled debris, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash was reported just after noon near Mile Marker 40.

A dump truck with an open top was hauling garbage and car parts, troopers said. The truck was traveling south on State Road 60 and attempting to exit onto northbound I-275. But the driver was going too fast, troopers said, and overturned.

No injuries were reported. The driver, Daniel Clemente Rocha, 60, of Wimauma, was cited for careless driving, the patrol said.

The interstate lanes were closed for more than two hours.
