Dump truck crash in Tarpon Springs sends three people to the hospital

TARPON SPRINGS – An accident between a dump truck and a station wagon sent three people to the hospital with serious injuries Thursday morning and closed Keystone Road east of U.S 19.

Tarpon Springs police have reopened Keystone Road. It was closed for more than an hour as authorities investigated the crash.

According to preliminary information, a dump truck heading east hit the passenger side of a 1999 Mercury station wagon at Keystone Road and Jasmine Avenue.

Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue and Palm Harbor Fire Rescue worked to extricate some of the victims in the wagon. The occupants were taken to Bayfront Medical Center by Bayflite helicopter.

The driver of the dump truck did not go to the hospital.

Names of the victims have not been released.

Tarpon Springs traffic homicide investigators are investigating the crash to determine charges if any and are treating the accident as a crime scene because of a potential fatality.
