Woman critical after crash on Sunshine Skyway Bridge

A Dunedin woman was in critical condition Thursday after she crashed into two parked cars on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The woman, whose name was not released pending notification of family, was driving a Chevy truck northbound as she approached the top of the bridge about 4 p.m.

Two trucks were properly parked and unoccupied at the crest of the bridge due to construction in the area.

Authorities said for an unknown reason the woman's truck drifted from the lane into the shoulder. She hit the first truck and crashed into the second as well. She was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.
