Early morning crash knocks out power to Pasco residents

NEW PORT RICHEY — Some Gulf Harbors residents lost power Sunday morning, but it wasn't Isaac's fault.

Authorities say Juliann Sarah Olds, 23, drove too fast around a curve on Floramar Terrace, causing her car to veer off the roadway, hit a road sign, then plow into a utility pole. Olds' Honda Accord overturned and landed on its roof.

The crash, which occurred about 5:20 a.m. Sunday, knocked out an area transformer, causing power outages and more than $20,000 in damages, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Olds and her passenger, 25-year-old Heather Marie Skipper, fled on foot, but Pasco deputies later found them in the area, FHP said. Both women had minor injuries.

Olds was cited for careless driving and leaving the scene of a crash. FHP said it does not appear that alcohol played any role in the crash.
