Fatal crash in Plant City shuts down part of State Road 60

PLANT CITY — The Florida Highway Patrol was investigating a crash early Monday that killed a pedestrian.

The crash was reported about 2:30 a.m. on State road 60 near the intersection of State Road 39.

The driver of a Mercury Grand Marquis was heading east when he struck a man in the center of the road, troopers said.

The pedestrian, identified as Rohnie Eugene Johnson Jr., 30, of Lakeland died at the scene. The driver, Samuel Ira Grossman, 46, of Mulberry sustained minor injuries and was not hospitalized, troopers said.
