FHP asks for help in finding drivers in fatal hit-and-run

NEW PORT RICHEY — The Florida Highway Patrol wants help in identifying two drivers who hit and killed a pedestrian Friday before fleeing the scene.

About 10:45 p.m., 53-year-old Geraldine Ford was walking east in a crosswalk at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Moog Road. Troopers say a dark-colored pickup truck, possibly a dark blue Chevy Silverado with furniture in its bed, hit her as it drove north. Another northbound vehicle, a red sedan, ran over her as well.

Both vehicles drove away. Ford died in the intersection.

Anyone with information about the crash should call troopers at (727) 841-4181 or (352) 521-3888, ext. 173.
