A 43-year-old Apopka man who died early Sunday after he lost control of the minivan he was driving on Interstate 4 has been identified by the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said that Wilfredo Marin was driving a 2003 Honda Odyssey west in the outside lane of the interstate at 2:30 a.m.
Just west of Branch Forbes Road, troopers said Marin became distracted while reaching for something in his vehicle. He lost control and veered off the road and into the median, striking a guardrail.
Marin was ejected upon impact. He was transported to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. Two passengers in the car, 54-year-old Maribel Muniz and 26-year-old Cathleen Melendez — both from Orlando — were taken to Tampa General Hospital with minor injuries, troopers said.
