LAND O' LAKES — A 44-year-old motorcyclist died from his injuries the day after an accused drunken driver pulled an illegal U-turn into his path.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Sunday that Zachary Scott Kane, of Land O' Lakes, died Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Hannah Michele Patrick, the accused drunken driver, faces several driving under the influence charges.

Just before 6 p.m. Friday, Patrick, 24, was driving a 2009 Kia Spectra north in the left-turn lane of U.S. 41 toward Morgan Road. Kane was heading south on U.S. 41 in the center lane, troopers said.

At the Morgan Road intersection, Patrick, of Tampa, made a U-turn into Kane's path. The Spectra collided with the motorcycle, then struck a curb and hit a Chevrolet Impala driven by 69-year-old Diane Farmer.

Patrick was not hurt. Farmer, of Tampa, sustained minor injuries. Farmer's 14-year-old passenger was not hurt.
