FHP: Motorcyclist, 19, dies after car turns into his path in Largo

LARGO — A 19-year-old motorcyclist was killed Monday night when a car turned into his path, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Rodney Thomas Hydorn of Clearwater died at the scene after he was ejected from the 2005 Suzuki Katana motorcycle, troopers said.

Around 11:35 p.m, Jessie Sue Leonard, 28, of Largo was driving a 1998 Jeep SUV east on Ulmerton Road in the left turn lane approaching Coral Way, troopers said.

Meanwhile, Hydorn was heading west on Ulmerton Road in the inside lane approaching Coral Way.

According to the FHP, Leonard turned left into Hydorn's path. Hydorn died at the scene, the FHP said, and Leonard was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with minor injuries.
