A Tampa motorcyclist was killed Wednesday night after a car drove into his path in Tampa, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 11:48 p.m. on N Dale Mabry Highway near W Idlewild Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said Cristobal Rodriguez, 23, was riding a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on N Dale Mabry Highway when Marcos Matos, 28, of Tampa, attempted a left turn in front of him onto eastbound W Idlewild Avenue in a 2000 Ford Contour.
Rodriguez slammed into the passenger side of the car, forcing both off the roadway, troopers said.
Rodriguez died at the scene, troopers said, and Matos was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, troopers said, and Rodriguez was wearing a helmet.
