FHP: Motorcyclist hits two cars, dies in crash

HUDSON — A 49-year-old motorcyclist died Wednesday in a crash.

Charles Marshall Whittemore was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic while heading north on U.S. 19 just south of Beacon Woods Drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

It was about 5:40 p.m. when Whittemore's 1996 Suzuki motorcycle rear-ended a 1998 Chevy Blazer in front of him. Driver Shannon M. Connell, 35, and passengers James Connell, 34, and Brooklyn Connell, 5, were not injured.

Whittemore then lost control of his motorcycle and hit a 2000 Pontiac in the driveway of Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Driver Michael Saintjohn, 53, was not injured.
