FHP searching for truck driver who injured man on moped in Land O'Lakes

LAND O'LAKES

FHP looking for driver who hit moped rider

Troopers are looking for the driver of a pickup truck they say hit a man on a moped Friday morning and drove away.

At about 6:45 a.m., the truck, possibly a white Dodge, was in the outside lane of State Road 54, just west of The Crossing Boulevard, while 22-year-old Joshua Lee Kapp also approached the intersection on his moped. Both failed to slow down, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report, and the front of the pickup hit the rear of the moped. The report says the driver of the pickup fled the scene.

Kapp was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital-North in Lutz with minor injuries.

The FHP had no more details to release about the driver of the pickup.

Anyone with information about the crash may call the FHP at (813) 631-4020.

  4. Editorial: Pinellas Construction Licensing Board should be abolished

    Editorials

There are essentially two facts that need to be understood about the Pinellas County Construction Licensing Board: It is a one-of-a-kind agency in Florida without any accountability to the state or the county. And to be kind, for years it was run haphazardly as an independent fiefdom, with missing financial records, …

The only way to restore faith and sanity to the process is to abolish the Pinellas County Construction Licensing Board and follow the lead of Hillsborough and other counties that utilize building departments and law enforcement to regulate contractors.
