FHP seeks help finding driver from fatal pedestrian crash on Gandy Boulevard

ST. PETERSBURG — Authorities have released the identity of the young woman who was stuck and killed while crossing Gandy Boulevard.

A westbound semi-trailer truck struck Nicole J. Lojewski, 24, of Brandon, about 3 a.m. Friday, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Then another vehicle, which didn't stop, also struck her.

Authorities pronounced her dead at the scene.

Lojewski and two other people had been trying to cross Gandy at a crosswalk after leaving Derby Lane. Lojewski stepped into the path of the truck, which had a green light, officials said.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the second vehicle or its driver is asked to call FHP at (813) 631-4020.
