Fire truck struck by car, firefighter injured

Times staff

LARGO — A collision with a car caused serious damage to a city fire truck Wednesday evening while the truck was responding to a call at 12171 117th St.

Largo Fire Lt. Lance Michael and District Chief Brian Brady were turning left at the intersection of 113th Street and Ulmerton Road when a car driving eastbound struck the passenger-side door of the truck. The fire truck had its lights and siren on, according to Largo Fire Rescue.

Brady was transported by ambulance to St. Petersburg's Bayfront Medical Center and treated for non life-threatening injuries. He is expected to return to work Saturday, firefighters said.

Largo police cited the driver of the car with failure to yield.
