PLANT CITY — Four teens were injured, one seriously, after their off-road vehicle and a sport utility vehicle collided Sunday.

The teens were riding in a four-wheel-drive utility vehicle when it collided with the SUV at 1114 S Wiggins Road, west of the Polk County line, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies arrived at the scene at 6:15 p.m. The SUV's driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a Lakeland hospital.

The teens, ages 15 to 17, were taken to Tampa General Hospital.

One was described as having life-threatening injuries and was transported by helicopter, sheriff's spokesman Larry McKinnon said.

The three others were described as having non-life threatening injuries.

The names of those involved had not yet been released.
