TAMPA — A Gibsonton woman, who deputies said was driving under the influence, was arrested Friday after she reportedly struck the rear of a sheriff's patrol car.

Around 9 p.m. Friday, Gertrude Horton-Wade, 53, was driving north on U.S. 301 near Palm River Road in a blue 2007 Nissan. Hillsborough County Sheriff's Deputies Bobby Jernigan and Caleb Johnson were parked on the east shoulder conducting a traffic stop, officials said, with their lights activated when Horton-Wade slammed into the back of their car.

There were no injuries reported.

Horton-Wade did not apply her brakes before striking the patrol car, deputies said. She showed signs of impairment and refused to take a breath test.
