Girl hit by car outside of Seminole Middle School in fair condition

The 12-year-old girl struck by a car outside of Seminole Middle School Thursday was in fair condition Friday, a spokesman for All Children's Hospital.

After school let out Thursday, Leah Martin was crossing 131st Street when an SUV hit her and pinned her underneath.

Seminole Fire Rescue arrived and used a jack to lift the vehicle and remove the girl.

Martin was taken by helicopter to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, and was originally listed in critical condition. Later, she was transferred to All Children's Hospital.

The driver, Lyght Hussey, 37, of Seminole, was not charged, said Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Steve Gaskins.
