SPRING HILL — A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed Saturday night when a driver turned into his path, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Justin Charles Mahaney of Hernando Beach was driving a Kawasaki east on Northcliffe Boulevard about 11:30 p.m. A Nissan going west on Northcliffe, driven by James A. Chisholm, 30, of Spring Hill, made a left turn in front on the oncoming cycle at the intersection with Geranium Avenue, the patrol said.
Mahaney laid the cycle down in an attempt to avoid a crash, but struck the car nonetheless. Troopers said the motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, died at the scene.
A passenger in the Nissan, Cynthia R. Chisholm, 26, also of Spring Hill, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Pasco Regional Medical Center.
The crash remains under investigation.
