BRANDON — A 43-year-old Hillsborough Fire Rescue paramedic was arrested on DUI charges Wednesday afternoon after troopers said he crashed into a line of stopped cars on State Road 60 and failed a breath test.

At 2:44 p.m. Levic D. Allen, of Valrico was driving a Toyota SUV west on S.R. 60 in the outside turn lane, east of Grand Regency Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The cars ahead of him had stopped, but Allen kept driving and crashed into a Ford pick-up truck driven by 19-year-old Chelsea E. Campbell, of Brandon. Campbell then crashed into the car head of her, troopers said.

No one was injured.

Troopers said Allen was given a breath test, which determined his blood alcohol level was between 0.177 and 0.181 — about double the level at which a person is deemed legally impaired.

Allen was taken to the Hillsborough County Jail and released on $500 bail. Jail records list his employer as Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.
