Holiday pedestrian, 77, dies crossing U.S. 19

HOLIDAY — A 77-year-old man walking across U.S. 19 died Wednesday morning after being hit by a car, authorities said.

The collision happened about 9:40 a.m. in a northbound lane of U.S. 19 at Bartelt Road, said Sgt. Steve Gaskins of the Florida Highway Patrol. David Nathanger Walker, of Holiday, attempted to cross the busy road without using a crosswalk, Gaskins said.

He was hit by a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Jaimee A. Torres, 20, of Largo. Torres was taken to Community Hospital in New Port Richey with minor injuries, a report stated.

Walker died at the scene of the crash. Gaskins said the crash investigation continues.
