Emile Skiba, 51, of Hudson grabbed his chest as he was driving a 2004 Toyota van just south of Boca Grande Avenue, according to the patrol. Troopers said he skidded onto the east shoulder of the road around 6:40 p.m., where the front in of the van smashed into the pole. Skiba was taken to Morton Plant North Bay Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His passenger, 50-year-old Laurie A. Skiba, was not seriously injured, the patrol said.
