Hudson motorcyclist hurt in crash with SUV

SHADY HILLS — A 66-year-old Hudson motorcyclist was seriously injured Sunday when he rear-ended a vehicle near the Pasco-Hernando county line, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Robert Borden was headed east on County Line Road on his 2001 Honda about 1:30 p.m., the FHP said, when he pulled behind a 2002 Jeep sport utility vehicle in the left turn lane at Oak Chase Boulevard.

For unknown reasons, he was unable to avoid hitting the right rear of an SUV, driven by Jody Hernandez, 53, of Spring Hill, the FHP said.

Borden was thrown from his bike and landed in the eastbound lane of County Line Road. The motorcycle rolled toward the shoulder of the road.

Borden was taken to the Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg with serious injuries, authorities said.

The FHP said Borden wasn't wearing a helmet.

Hernandez was unhurt.
