I-75 ramp to I-4 closed for hours after dump truck crash

TAMPA — A ramp from Interstate 75 to Interstate 4 was closed for several hours early Monday after a dump truck crashed into a guardrail, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Donald Edwin Biehl, 56, was driving the truck north on Interstate 75 on the exit ramp to Interstate 4 about 1:30 a.m. when he fell asleep and lost control of the truck, troopers said. It struck the median guardrail and a concrete barrier wall, causing a fuel leak.

Biehl sustained minor injuries and was not hospitalized. He was cited for careless driving.

The left lane of the ramp was reopened about 5:30 a.m.

The crash remained under investigation, troopers said.
