Ice cream truck overturns on I-275 in Tampa

TAMPA — An ice cream truck overturned on southbound Interstate 275 near the Howard-Armenia exit about 10:20 a.m., according to Tampa Fire Rescue and the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 1998 GMC delivery truck was empty at the time, and the woman driving, 43-year-old Deanne Marie Absher of Spring Hill, was not injured. There was a minor diesel fuel leak, but it was quickly contained by rescue crews, said Tampa Fire Rescue spokesman Capt. Bill Wade.

Absher was heading south to the Armenia-Howard exit in the outside lane when a Stepp's tow truck started drifting toward her from the center lane, according to an FHP report. When Absher put on her brakes, she lost control and flipped over, coming to a rest across the outside lanes.

According to the report, no charges will be filed.
