BRANDON — A Plant City teenager died in a Friday night crash with a semitrailer truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

About 9:20 p.m., Waleika D. Swingler, 17, was driving her 2006 Ford Focus north in the outside lane of Interstate 75 south of State Road 574, according to a crash report.

Swingler hit the back of a semitrailer truck that was driving in front of her and got caught underneath the truck, which dragged her 75 feet down the highway, according to the report. Swingler died at the scene.

The truck's driver Mohamed Ahmed, 34, continued north, unaware that the accident had occurred, authorities said. After stopping at exit 285 on State Road 52, Ahmed called law enforcement, who determined the connection with the fatal crash, according to the report.
