Land O'Lakes man killed, another injured after being hit by car

A pedestrian was killed and another was hurt Friday night while they crossed U.S. 41 at Hale Road in Land O'Lakes, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Troopers gave this account of the incident: Two people were walking west in a crosswalk on U.S. 41 about 8:15 p.m. While crossing the highway, they walked into the path of a driver who was northbound on U.S. 41. Both were hit by the 1995 Honda Civic. They were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital-North in Lutz.

William Ross Acton, 62, of Land O'Lakes, died. The other pedestrian, Howard F. Creps, 21, of Land O'Lakes, was in serious condition Saturday.

The driver, Christopher Bossio, 24, of Spring Hill, was not hurt. An investigation is continuing.
