Local diver's body found off Anna Maria Island

The body of a missing 31-year-old Tampa diver was found Saturday off the coast of Anna Maria Island, according to the Coast Guard.

Darren Rordam was reported missing at about 10:30 a.m. Friday about 18 miles west of the island. Crew members of the 22-foot vessel Malikot told officials Rordam hadn't surfaced from an earlier dive.

The Coast Guard launched a 600-square-mile search for the diver, using a rescue helicopter, utility and patrol boats and the St. Petersburg-based Coast Guard Cutter Alligator.

His submerged body was located at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
