Man dies in fiery Brooksville crash

BROOKSVILLE — A man was killed after crashing his car into a tree on Redbird Lane Friday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The driver, who has not been identified, was going south approaching Mae Height Road at about 1:40 p.m. when he veered off the road, troopers said. The 1998 Buick Regal rolled on the south shoulder, where it struck a tree, started on fire and completely burned, troopers said. The driver died at the scene.

No other details were released Friday night.
