Man dies in Hernando County collision

BROOKSVILLE — One man was killed Wednesday afternoon when a car collided with a truck at U.S. Highway 98 and Citrus Way.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the car was heading south on Citrus Way when it entered the intersection around 3:30 p.m. and struck the left side of the eastbound flat-bed truck.

The car spun after the collision and the passenger, a man in his 40s, was ejected, the FHP said. The man died at the scene, while two others in the car refused medical attention, the FHP said. The car's driver was not wearing a seat belt, but the two passengers did have them on, the agency said. The driver of the truck was uninjured.

The name of the victim was not released, pending notification of next of kin.

CORRECTION: Earlier versions of this story published in print and online incorrectly described the victims' location in the vehicle.
