ST. PETERSBURG — A man was seriously injured Thursday night after an SUV rolled over him in the St. Anthony's Hospital parking lot, authorities said.
It appears the man, who has not been identified, had crawled underneath the vehicle, said Lt. Joel Granata, spokesman for St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue, which responded to the scene at about 7:30 p.m.
When firefighters arrived, they found the man pinned underneath a white Nissan SUV. They used the Jaws of Life to free him. It is unclear why the man got under the vehicle in the first place, Granata said.
Though the man was conscious and talking, rescuers took him to Bayfront Medical Center as a trauma alert.
St. Petersburg Police are investigating. No other information was available.
