Man seriously injured in crash with PSTA bus in Clearwater

CLEARWATER — A man suffered life-threatening injuries Monday evening when he collided with a PSTA bus.

Clearwater police said the crash occurred at Sunset Point Road and Old Coachman Road at 5:30 p.m. as a 2005 Toyota was traveling west on Sunset Point Road. The driver, a man in his 30s, was making a left-hand turn onto Old Coachman when he turned into the path of the bus. The bus was traveling east on Sunset Point Road.

The driver of the Toyota, who was not wearing a seat belt, was transported to Bayfront Medical Center.

Officials said the bus driver suffered an unrelated medical condition after the crash and was taken to a local hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Five passengers on the bus were not injured and declined medical treatment.

Police did not release the identities of the people involved on Monday night.
