Authorities are investigating a boating incident that resulted in a Manatee County man's death Saturday, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said.
The body of Henry Hicks, 59, of Anna Maria was recovered from the water west of Egmont Key, about three miles west of Anna Maria, around 4:15 p.m., FWC said. Hicks had been aboard a 27-foot Black Watch vessel with other people, FWC Officer Baryl Martin said. People on board the boat were retrieving the anchor when the incident occurred.
Martin said the incident was a "possible drowning" but that it was unclear Saturday how Hicks died. The investigation is ongoing and authorities were interviewing witnesses Saturday, Martin said.
