PALM HARBOR — A 66-year-old driver was hospitalized after hitting traffic signs, clipping the end of a semitrailer truck and crashing into a concrete light pole Wednesday morning, authorities said.
The crash happened about 6:45 a.m. on U.S. 19 N near Alderman Road. Palm Harbor Fire Rescue officials said the unidentified man was trapped inside his vehicle and was pulled out by rescue workers.
He was severely injured and taken to Bayfront Medical Center by helicopter.
Fire officials said the crash was likely related to a medical condition.
No one else was injured.
