More than a year after fatal crash, Lithia man arrested

TAMPA — Hillsborough County deputies arrested a Lithia man Wednesday, more than a year after a crash in Polk County killed a passenger in his sport utility vehicle.

Timothy Ryan Hammock, 20, faces charges of vehicular homicide, reckless driving causing property damage, three counts of reckless driving causing serious bodily injury and four counts of driving with a license suspended or revoked causing injury.

On Sept. 28, 2010, Hammock was driving a 1998 Ford SUV when it crossed the center line on County Road 640 in Mulberry and collided with a 2008 Ford truck, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

Heather Layton, 19, of Plant City died in the crash.
