Mother, daughter in serious condition after crash

TARPON SPRINGS — A mother and daughter remained in serious condition after their 2003 Toyota van collided with a dump truck Thursday morning.

Reem Jacob, 48, and Abeer Jacob, 17, of 3032 Bradford Circle in Palm Harbor were in serious but stable condition at Bayfront Medical Center on Friday afternoon.

A second passenger, Pebbles Fialos, 16, was treated and released from the hospital.

According to police, Reem Jacob was attempting to turn east on Keystone Road from Jasmine Avenue when their vehicle was struck in the side by a dump truck traveling east on Keystone Road.

The truck's driver, Julian Harrison, 33, was evaluated and released from St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. Police say the truck was owned by Kearney Construction Co., 5115 Joanne Kearney Blvd., Tampa.

Tarpon Springs police still are investigating and wouldn't speculate on possible charges.
