Motorcycle driver dead after collision with truck on U.S. 19

PORT RICHEY — A motorcyclist died Friday morning after colliding with a pickup truck on U.S. 19.

Joseph Sanders, 27, of Port Richey was heading south on his 2006 Suzuki motorcycle when a truck driving north turned left into his path, the Florida Highway Patrol reported. The collision happened at about 8:50 a.m. just south of the Gulf View Square Mall. Sanders was ejected and died at the scene, FHP reported.

The driver of the 2003 Chevrolet S-10 pickup, Joshua D. Fruchey, 24, of New Port Richey suffered minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation, FHP said.
