A 19-year-old St. Petersburg motorcyclist was killed Monday night when the driver of another vehicle turned into his path, according to St. Petersburg Police.

The crash took place at the intersection of 30th Avenue N and 66th Street around 10:25 p.m., police say.

Patricia N. Stevenson, 61, of St. Petersburg, was driving a 2013 Jeep Wrangler southbound on 66th Street in the turn lane at 30th Avenue N, waiting to make a left, police say.

At the same time, James V. Redner-Gilmartin was riding northbound on 66th Street in the inside lane behind another vehicle, police say.

Just before the intersection, police say Redner-Gilmartin changed lanes into the middle lane and accelerated. Not seeing him, Stevenson turned left and into his path, causing Redner-Gilmartin to crash into the front of the Jeep.

Redner-Gilmartin, who was not wearing a helmet, died at the scene, police say.

Stevenson was treated for minor injuries at Palms of Pasadena Hospital and released, police say.
