Motorcyclist dies after colliding with PSTA bus in Lealman

LEALMAN — A 28-year-old motorcyclist died after colliding with the back of a county bus late Sunday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Daniel Caillouet of Kenneth City was taken to Northside Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The crash happened just before 11 p.m. on 49th Street N near 46th Avenue N, according to the FHP.

Troopers said Caillouet was northbound on 49th Street N in the center lane when he failed to slow and struck the back of the PSTA bus. Caillouet's motorcycle then overturned.

Apparently unaware of the crash, bus driver Jimmie Damos, 49, of St. Petersburg, continued on to the PSTA bus compound, where troopers found the bus, according to the FHP.

Damos was not injured.

The crash did about $500 in damage to the bus, the FHP said.
